As part of efforts aiming to standardize terminology and enable access to Polish museum data throughout the international arena, in collaboration with The Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles (GRI) we have begun the translation and preparation of the Polish-language version of the Art & Architecture Thesaurus (Getty AAT).
The thesaurus contains more than 34 thousand terms from the fields of fine art, architecture, handicrafts, material culture and archival materials. Constantly expanded and updated, the thesaurus can be browsed online using text search or navigation tools and is also available in a licensed version that can, for example, be built into custom electronic collection record systems.
The current work focusses on verifying and supplementing data collected in 2013-2015 and on introducing modifications enabling the export of data to GRI.
